Can I book a ticket in advance?

For individual guests, currently tickets can only be purchased on the spot, advance booking is not yet available. Groups of 20+ can book a short guided tour (including the Fisherman’s Bastion ticket) in advance. Please contact us for a quote at info [at] fishermansbastion.com.

Can I pay by card for the entrance tickets to the Fisherman’s Bastion?
Yes, it is possible to pay by card (all major cards are accepted, except AmEx). Cash payment is possible only in HUF (Hungarian Forint). EUR cash payments are not accepted.

Is there a group discount for groups of 20+ at the Fisherman’s Bastion?
Due to the nominal fee charged, there is no group discount for visitors to the Fisherman’s Bastion as the prices are set so low that they are almost negligible.

Can I book a tour at the Fisherman’s Bastion Budapest?
Groups of 20+ can book a guide in advance. please contact us via email at info [at] fishermansbastion.com.

I’d like to propose on the Fisherman’s Bastion? What can I do?

If you wish to use the premises only without any catering service, please feel free to visit anytime. You may wish to bring a bottle of sparkling wine with 2 glasses to make the event more romantic.
If you wish to book a table in restaurant of Fisherman’s Bastions, you can contact them directly at sale [at] halaszbastya.eu.

Is it possible to book Fisherman’s Bastion for a wedding?
If you wish to use the premises only without any catering service, please the Buda Castle Municipality, District I. Customer Service: ugyfelszolgalat [at] budavar [dot] hu.
If you wish to book tables, drinks, foods, etc., please contact the restaurant renting some parts (a section of the balconies and a turret) of the Fisherman’s Bastion. Their email address is

Are dogs allowed?

Small dogs are allowed on a lead and with a muzzle (which is the general dog walking policy in Budapest public placed.
Besides small dogs, guide dogs are also allowed on the Fisherman’s Bastion. Unfortunately, large dogs are not allowed for safety reasons (this is a very popular area with over half million people visiting every year).

Can I park my car at the Fisherman’s Bastion? If yes, where is a
parking lot / space/ house?

Yes, you can park your car in the open street by Hotel Hilton or in the underground parking house of the hotel where parking fees apply (there is no free parking in the Buda Castle District).
Please note that the high prices of parking rates reflect the municipality’s efforts to limit car traffic in the Castle District to preserve its historic heritage.
Prices in 2019 :
HUF 550 / €1.81 per hour on the street
HUF 900 / €3.1 per hour  in the underground parking space
HUF 9900 / €34 per day in the underground parking space
Parking on the street with validated ticket costs HUF 525/EUR 1.81 per hour. Hilton Budapest offers a secured and convenient underground garage for HUF 900/EUR 3.10 per hour or HUF 9900/EUR 34 per day.

Accessibility at Fisherman’s Bastion

Is the Fisherman’s Bastion accessible for wheelchair users?
The short answer is: partly. The lower terraces are easily accessible, while the upper turrets and towers are unfortunately not wheelchair friendly. More information: Accessibility of Fisherman’s Bastion
